Atlanterhavsveien 27. desember 2011. That title is the only explanation YouTube user HSRham9 gives for this video. Damn him or her for making me slog all the way over to Wikipedia to learn that Atlanterhavsveien means Atlantic Ocean Road.
This is a 5.2 mile long causeway that runs over several small islands to connect the Norwegian mainland with the island of Averøy. TWELVE hurricanes hit the area while the road was being built. Me, I’d give up after six or seven. That’s probably why I’m not a Norwegian roadbuilder.
According to Wikipedia, “The road is preserved as a cultural heritage site and is classified as a National Tourist Route. It is a popular site to film automotive commercials, has been declared the world’s best road trip, and been awarded the title as ‘Norwegian Construction of the Century.’”
Spend 3:52 of your life with HSRham9’s beautiful little video and see why. Then let’s go.
