According to the amazing Internet Pinball Database, Williams Co. made about 7,300 Whirlwind pinball machines between 1990-91. This one is mine.
A dear friend—noted author, photographer, euro-daddy blogger and pretender to my pinball crown—is coming to visit, so I broke out the MillWax playfield cleaner and Novus plastic polish #1 and put a glossy whupping all up on it. I had it playing the “ooh-you’re-beating-me-real-bad” music by the third game.
Williams had an amazing run in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. Back in the day, this was one of my all-time favorite pins. To own an 8-out-of-10 specimen, well, for a total dork like me, it’s really cool. More Whirlwind pictures at IPDB. (NSF pinball dorks.)
D’oh, and those are Pat’s pics on the wall of Poison 13, Scratch Acid, the Buttholes and some other band.
